Bucs beat Braves in season opener

Mission Bay football started the season with a 27-14 win over El Cajon Valley Braves in its home-opener on Aug. 19.
Down 14-13 at halftime, the Buccaneers came storming back behind starting quarterback Ethan Silber to take the lead on a touchdown pass to Jacob Sloan, followed by a game-clinching touchdown run by HaTan Nguyen.
Two first-half touchdown passes to Jonah Priest and David Maier kept the game close. The Bucs’ defense, led by senior Teddy Buettner, didn’t allow the Braves to score in the second half.
Next up, the Buccaneers play Mar Vista High at Montgomery High School at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27.
